The recently rumours may have announced the death of Microsoft’s mobile operating system. However, the company has no plan to give up on Windows Phone anytime soon. Satya Nadella’s new interview has confirmed the same. Microsoft hasn’t launched any new Windows Phone Device after the Lumia 650 but this does not mean Windows Phone is dead. As per the recent rumours, Microsoft has planned to discontinue the Lumia brand and allow other OEMs to build new Windows Phones.
A new interview of Satya Nadella has confirmed that the company is going to build new phones, but it won’t look like phones. Microsoft’s CEO is hinting towards the launch of a new device that will create a new category.
“What we’ve done with Surface is a good example. No one before us thought of 2-in-1s and we created that category and made it a successful category to the point where there are more 2-in-1s coming. And that’s what we want to do,” said Nadella. It is now clear that the company’s next ‘phone’ is all set to create a new category, it could be the Surface Phone?
Microsoft is going to follow the strategy they did with the Surface lineup. The phones won’t look like phones and it would be premium like the Surface Devices are. And OEMs will follow the trend which Microsoft is going to set.
So when you say we’ll make more phones, I’m sure we’ll make more phones, but they will not look like phones that are there today – Satya Nadella.
Satya Nadella’s statement has cleared that the company will launch a new phone and it won’t look like the phones out in the market, it would be something unique.

Ok. But, why can't we have some "normal" phones in the meantime? MS left a big black hole...
Even if they launch one phone and invest a lot of money, they won't be able to generate revenue. Because we really don't need yet another phone with more gigs of RAM, better camera, display, there are already way too many phones out and new phones are launching every week.
It will still be a surface phone, that's what he is actually trying to say:
In the meantime a phone and with continuum x86 arm emulation when you dock your device you will have full windows experience on it and you will be able to run win32 apps on it

But i think that's what they are waiting for:
RS3 official release or RS4 and they will announce the device together with it.
Since we can expect the new improvements to x86 emulation and continuum and release it with those features.

The problem is that those new phones are running on Android, and I'm not using that OS anymore.
