Ex-Microsoft employee Nawzil Nejeeb has now revealed that the Redmond giant is planning to support Windows 10 Mobile devices until December 2019. Nawzil is a reliable source and in a Facebook post, he detailed that Windows Phones with Windows 10 Mobile Fall Creators Update will be supported until the end of 2019.
Microsoft supports each version of Windows 10 Mobile for at least 26 months and the support could be extended as well, if the company plans to extend support for the operating system, it will be announced within 1 year of the below dates.

Windows 10 Mobile version 1607 build 14393 / Anniversary Update: October 9, 2018
Windows 10 Mobile version 1703 build 15063 / Creators Update: June 11, 2019
Windows 10 Mobile version 1709 build 15254 / Fall Creators Update: December 10, 2019
Compatible Lumia phones with Windows 10 Mobile Fall Creators Update will be supported into 2020 with bug fixes and improvements. Microsoft is actually supporting the Lumia phones for around 4 years from the launch date. “(Lumia phones) get Feature Updates during those 2 years. Each Feature Update is supported for around 26 months. The last Feature Update that a Lumia phone gets at the end of the 2 years will be supported for around 2 years, so the total support period for a Lumia phone is around 4 years from the date it is launched,” Nawzil says.
Remember that the Windows Phones that are not compatible with the Fall Creators Update won’t be supported and after the company drops support for those phones, you may need to buy a new supported Windows Phone.
The Fall Creators Update is the last major update for Windows 10 Mobile, Microsoft’s Joe Belfiore earlier confirmed that the company will support the existing phones but with only bug fixes. It is highly likely that Microsoft will not even add minor change such as new emojis to Windows 10 Mobile, the operating system will be however getting new changes but only for enterprises.

There are millions, if not billions of smartphones with loads of different specs out there that is running on Android out of the box. Why would you ask for such option or tool in the first place?!
I may be a year late here... but simple answer... people love their Windows Phones, and don't want to spend a shit ton of money on a new phone. Simpler to just switch out the OS. If I could get Android on my Lumia 1520, I'd be a happy camper. I would be an even happier camper, if Microsoft would quit giving up every time they have a good thing going.
Having Android Runtime feature like what Blackberry did with BB 10.3 doesn't sound too bad after all.
But whole Android OS? I just don't see the point of it.
Android sssssssucks! I finally got an android tableg and i despise ghe whole os! The progs for it sre garbage! Not even the best have squat for settings like windows does. If W10 devices are even close to dssktop windows and run anh of the basic progs in an oddnticle to desktop way, I'm gonna switch. This quitting support thkng is typical of M$ greed trying to force ppl to "upgrade" to another OS and comp or device to handle to new, usually dojbling in req, system. So, what are they going to force us to buy for another 2yrs of security updates? Can we upgrade to that OS like u can from W8 devices to W10?

Lol, you don't have to convince me. I love Win 10 Mobile... but sticking with it, just doesn't seem like an option at this point. I'm done with Apple crap, so the only other alternative was an Android... setup the MS services I use, MS Launcher with my Microsoft account, and good to go. Now, if that damn Surface Phone ever comes out... I'll be right there.
