Microsoft plans to hold a hardware event this October for the Surface Pro 7 and Surface Laptop 3, and perhaps the Surface Centaurus. According to a recent leak, Microsoft is working on five different variants of the Surface Pro 7 and the device could come with Intel’s Ice Lake CPUs, which offers a powerful integrated Gen11 graphics engine.

A bold rumour claims that the Redmond firm is considering AMD Ryzen chips for its flagship Surface Laptop 3, which may include a 15-inch variant. The AMD chips for Surface Laptop 3 would finally allow Microsoft to bundle in a bit more graphics horsepower.

Microsoft might opt for AMD Ryzen 5 3550H or Ryzen 7 3750H, both come integrated with AMD Radeon RX Vega GPU and offers improved energy efficiency with higher clock speeds.

15-inch Surface Laptop 3

As per another report, we might finally see a 15-inch Surface Laptop 3 with a 3:2 aspect ratio that would help Microsoft expand capabilities of its lineup.

The Surface Book is currently the only hardware from Microsoft that comes with a traditional 15-inch version. Surface Pro and Surface Laptop lineup have a screen size smaller than 13-inch.

As mentioned, the upgraded Surface Laptop 3 and Surface Pro 7 could be announced at the Surface event on October 2. Rumours also suggest that Microsoft plans to take the wraps off a dual-screen Surface-branded device and Windows Lite (Windows Core OS).
